Am I eligible?
If you answer yes to all of the following questions, you may be eligible:
- Are you 18 years or older?
- Do you live in Victoria, Australia?
- Do you currently smoke 10 or more cigarettes a day?
- Do you currently access services, treatment, support or care for a mental health or drug and alcohol condition? (Examples include GP, psychologist, psychiatrist, community service, SMART Recovery, AA)
- Do you have access to a phone?
If any of the following apply to you, you are not eligible for the study:
- Currently using Quitline’s call back service
- Pregnant
- Have had a heart attack or severe arrhythmia in the past two weeks
- Have unstable angina
If you are not eligible for the study but would like to seek further help to quit or cut down your smoking, we encourage you to visit https://www.quit.org.au/ or call Quitline 13 78 48.

The PICF form provides more information about the study and includes a consent section you will need to complete if you decide to join the study (this will be completed within the online survey). Read the information carefully before you decide to take part in the study.

I Am Ready to Join the Study
After you have read the PICF form and are ready to proceed, please click here to complete the online screening questionnaire to confirm your eligibility. We recommend you discuss study participation with your support people/health professionals prior to entering the study. Note that study participation closes 31 March 2021.

Peer Worker Contact Details
We have peer workers available to support you during your participation in this study. Our peer workers have lived experience of mental ill-health and recovery including experience quitting smoking.
After you complete the first survey, you will see a video of one of our peer workers explaining the support you will receive to reduce or quit smoking.
If at any time you would like assistance with completing the survey, you will have the option for one of our peer workers to contact you to complete it over the phone.
